About Braywick Nature Centre

Braywick LodgeBraywick Nature Centre is the home for the Royal Borough’s Countryside Service which provides walks and talks, exhibitions and interpretation, conservation management advice, family events and a varied educational programme of nature discovery activities for schools, youth groups and other local organisations. The Nature Centre is situated in an old stable block, originally part of the estate belonging to Braywick Lodge.

Educational study topics at Braywick Nature Centre include Minibeasts, Habitats, The Seasons, Trees and Woodland and Earth Education activities (including half-day, full-day and shorter sessions), for which a charge per child is made.

The Royal Borough’s Park Rangers promote awareness of the natural environment through a programme of events, walks and talks across the borough, and through providing educational sessions for school, youth and other groups.

The service also offers a range of opportunities for volunteer involvement. The Nature Centre is situated in an old stable block, originally part of the estate belonging to Braywick Lodge.

This 19th century mansion house was demolished in 1969, however the stables were refurbished in 1989 to provide a centre for environmental activities in the Borough.

The Nature Centre houses displays and exhibitions on wildlife, sustainability and local history; and has a large classroom for use by schools and other groups.
